Inside the Montana Motor Supply building – tucked unsuspectingly behind main street in downtown Bozeman, Montana – you’ll find Abby Hetherington and her team. This team consists of designers, saleswomen, operators, project managers, stylists, a token illustrator, a Paul Bunyanesque character that lends muscles to hoist furniture and arrange the showroom floor, amongst others that contribute their unique talents, skills and craft.
For those new to following, Abby Hetherington Interiors (AHI) is housed with its sister company, the Architect’s Wife (AW). Think of AHI as the back of house designers while AW is the the front of house curators.
Here, we share some of the faces behind AHI & AW along with a bit of their backstory. Let us introduce you to Payton Fielding – our Junior Designer who has made herself invaluable to the entire team with her can-do attitude and willingness to jump in and make things happen, from selling furniture and climbing ladders to hang art, to merchandising during late night flips and everything in between. She's pitched in on a wide variety of projects and brings a well-traveled perspective to the team. Her tenure and talents here has made her an important part of the AHI and AW family!
How did you land at AHI/AW?
As an Interior Design student at MSU, I was wondering around town one day and stopped into The Architects Wife... next thing I knew I was doing my school internship with AHI/AW, and here I am as a Junior Designer four years later!
What is your role?
An average day in the office consists of general store and office upkeep, ordering samples, making floor plans, and running all over town to pick up samples! There is never a dull day here!

I would have dinner with Laura Ingalls Wilder.... her life as a settler in the west is inspiring, I would have so many questions for her!

I have been trying to get outside and on the river everyday if I can... if I'm not on the river you can find me up-cycling old furniture pieces or binging Outlander!
