1883-84 Birdseye Bozeman Print
1884 Bozeman
This is a rare 1883 birdseye map of Bozeman, Montana Territory, looking east toward Bozeman Pass. The artist is Henry Wellge (1850-1917). The Northern Pacific Railroad extended its line west from Livingston to Bozeman in 1883. Wellge was known for his birdseye views and did a similar map of Livingston looking south. He also produced a 1904 chromolitho birdseye of Yellowstone National Park looking south. Architect’s Wife has these 3 birdseye views by Wellge and a fourth 1907 birdseye view of Bozeman looking south by Merritt Houghton (1846-1918). These 4 birdseye views are reproduced in fine detail. They are thought provoking and make exceptional décor pieces.
