Barrett and Rife Party Yellowstone National Park - 1886 Albumen Photo

this is a rare 1886 albumen photograph taken by Frank Jay (F. J.) Haynes. Haynes first came to Yellowstone in 1881 as the official photographer for the Northern Pacific Railroad. He was on of the first concessionaires in the park and established Haynes Photo Shops throughout the park. This is a rare photo of an early tourist party in Yellowstone National Park. A young child can be seen in the photo. Tourists who traveled through the park and camped on their own were referred to as "sagebrushers".
