Old Faithful Inn and Geyser - 1905 Chromolithograph

This is a rare chromolithographic print of the Old Faithful Inn and Geyser taken the year after the Inn was opened. This chromo was published by the Detroit Publishing Company (DPC). William Henry Jackson, the famous pioneer photographer whose 1871 photos helped convince Congress to establish Yellowstone National Park, was a director of the DPC in charge of production. DPC chromolithographic prints (chromos) were produced on hand-carved stones and were some of the finest color reproductions of their time. They preceded the development of color photography by several years. DPC chromos are rare and very collectible.
